Kumana said a short friendship that keeps him rise the USA Flag

Kumana said a short friendship that keep him raise the USA Flag.

Aaron Kumana always gives a very big smile when he always raised a USA Flag given by Cpt. Rhode, and sometimes with a very big shout, “HURRAY!” this is when he started a day work. Besides, my grandfather who always dreamed of what to give to his community as a gift from him from the USA. He said that people came to him and talking about him as someone known to the other end of the world, and could be the source of bringing help to develop the community because of his famous story of rescuing the future president of USA.

He said, raising a USA flag was only to commemorate my love for my president John F Kennedy. He said he once show him during the period of rescuing him, and that is the last time I show him. However, because of how famous he was the story of promise to see us I and Biuku is another chapter of the PT109 rescue, said Kumana or Eroni Kumana

Kumana said that it was the shortest friendship in his life that keeps him raising the USA flag. A shortest of all friendship that keeps all these tourists and students from all over the world to hear the story of the rescuer. That is why all my people are expecting something as a reward, said Kumana

He said he is going very soon and ask his grandchildren to fulfill his 5 recommendations (The 5R’s). http://aronkumana.blogspot.com/2010/05/aaron-kumanas-5-recommendations.html.

Eroni Kumana died on the 3rd of August 2014, 10am local time living his 5R's behind.

US grateful for Kumana, Gasa’s action

Had it not been for two men in a small canoe over seventy years ago, the world may not have ever known the name John F. Kennedy said US Defense Attaché Commander Dan Balsinger.

During the unveiling of John F. Kennedy’s PT109 monument on Lubaria Island in Rendova last week, the Commander speaking on behalf of the United States of America said they are deeply grateful for the actions of Eroni Kumana and Biuku Gasa that fateful August day in 1943.

“We thank you for your friendship, and we thank you for this great honor to our 35th President, John F. Kennedy.
“Again a great and mighty U.S. Navy ship will bear the name and carry on the legacy of President John F. Kennedy,” he said citing the first naval ship has been decommissioned in 2007.
He closed with a quote from the late President; “The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission.”
At the ceremony, Commander Balsinger also met up with one of late Biuku’s son Rex Biuku.
He also met up with a one of the forgotten native in the Presidents’ version son of Ingolo Goete, claimed to be one of the head scouts that helped in the rescue effort in the Kolombangara waters.
